Individual Membership
The Individual Membership:
The individual members of NAPUD are persons with lived or living experience of drug use and will become part of the e-group maintained and managed by the Secretariat. Every member is expected to support the vision and mission of NAPUD.
Applying to become an individual member:
Any person with lived or living experience of drug use can apply to be an individual member of NAPUD by submitting the Individual Membership Application Form (MAF). The application should be submitted to the contact person at the NAPUD Secretariat. The application will be processed and will undergo a verification process, including vetting with the national network, before adding the individual to the e-group of NAPUD. The applicant will receive a confirmatory mail within 15 working days from the submission of the application.
Individual membership fees:
No monetary fees are associated with applying or being a member of NAPUD.
Benefits to individual members:
All individual members of NAPUD shall have the right to;
- Be part of the NAPUD e-group;
- Access information shared in the e-group & other important cross-posting from other platforms;
- Share local critical and other emerging issues pertaining to people who use drugs and associated programs and engage in any e-group discussions;
- Take part in regional online discussions and webinars, and provide inputs and perspectives sought to address issues of people who use drugs in Asia;
- Shape advocacy messages and strategies for sharing NAPUD’s position and interventions in regional and global platforms;
- Connect with the Executive Board of NAPUD;
- Review and input to reflect local reality in NAPUD’s publications;
- Participate and share NAPUD’s position on critical issues for people who use drugs in Asia.
Temporary suspension and termination of general individual membership:
- Any member can withdraw their membership at any time by sending an email to the contact person at the NAPUD Secretariat.
- In the unfortunate event of the death of the member.
- The Executive Board can temporarily suspend (up to 6 months) a person from individual membership in case of a breach of NAPUD’s ethics and e-group postings detrimental to the collectiveness and inclusiveness of NAPUD. In such case of termination, the Secretariat contact person will send one email with a request to stop any act or e-group postings detrimental to NAPUD and its members. This email will be sent to all e-group members as an open mail to ensure members are aware of the action taken.
- The EB and contact person at the Secretariat shall request an online meeting with the person to address any issue. The online meeting intends to resolve any issues amicably.
- In case of non-participation in the online meeting, the member will be temporarily suspended from the individual membership.
- In case of a complaint/s by other individual members; an explanation will be sought from the concerned member with a response time of 15 days. Non-compliance or non-response within 15 days will result in temporary suspension of membership.
The Executive Board reserves the right to further pursue through an online meeting and decide whether to retain or suspend the membership.
